Up Country is 40! Celebrating 40 Years with Baybreeze Interiors
Here at Up Country, we are proudly celebrating 40 years in business! This would not be possible without the support and collaboration of some outstanding retailers. To mark this milestone, we’re shining a spotlight on those retailers who’ve stuck with us for years, helping us bring style and comfort to countless furry friends. Today we're featuring one of our very first customers, Baybreeze Interiors. Learn more about them in our interview below!
Why and/or how did you start your company and what year?
Baybreeze Interiors opened in 1993 by newlyweds Rob and Harriet. Rob's grandmother had just passed away, so they used the space to sell her antique furniture and it eventually morphed into what we are now, selling gifts both new and old.Tell us a little about your store and the area you are located.
Bay Breeze Interiors is a family-owned business that proudly carries a variety of novelty items. We offer both local and established lines and frequently search for new brands. Rob and his daughter, Bailey, the current manager of Bay Breeze Interiors, go to great lengths to find antique furniture and unique interior accents that have a special New England feel that is especially prevalent in the Watch Hill community. Watch Hill is primarily a seasonal destination, made up of picturesque mansions and beach homes. How did you find out about the Up Country brand and when did you start selling our products?
Our connection to Up Country dates back to the 80's when the founder of Up Country, Alice Nichols, first approached Rob's father at his RW Richins clothing store in Providence to promote her new company. From there they became great friends, and he introduced Alice to their extremely talented in-house artist, Donna Bodell, who not only designed our custom Watch Hill ribbon but ALL of Up Country's ribbons. The rest is history! What is a customer favorite, or your favorite design and why?
Our custom Watch Hill design has always been the best seller. In addition to providing locals another way of demonstrating their town pride, the pattern is also nostalgic to many because the Watch Hill Flying Horse Carousel uses the ribbon on the belts used to strap in riders.Anything else you would like to say about Up Country?
Our family treasures the personal and professional relationship we have with Up Country. The care and commitment to quality is apparent in all of their products and services!
